Acute Technology Adds CXPI Protocol Decoding for Automotive HMI and Body Control Networks

Taiwan, October 2026 – Acute Technology Inc. today announced CXPI (Clock Extension Peripheral Interface) protocol decoding for its logic analyzers and mixed signal oscilloscopes (MSO), helping automotive engineers quickly analyze traffic on body networks that connect switches, sensors, actuators and instrument clusters.

CXPI is a single-wire in-vehicle network drafted by JSAE (JASO D015), standardized as SAE J3076 and adopted into the ISO 20794 series. Positioned between LIN and CAN, it lets the master node embed the clock in the data waveform using PWM, so slave nodes need no crystal oscillator, and slaves can also initiate transmissions. With bit rates of 2.4 to 20 kbit/s and non-destructive bitwise arbitration, CXPI suits HMI applications that require fast response.

Key Features

  • Automatic bit-rate detection: Supports 20, 19.2, 10, 9.6, 4.8 and 2.4 kbps plus custom rates; in Auto mode the detected rate is shown in the report.
  • PWM / NRZ encoding: Configurable encoding, polarity, sample point (20% – 80%) and tolerance (5% – 50%).
  • CRC verification: CRC-8 for normal frames (AUTOSAR 0x2F by default) and CRC-16 for long frames (CCITT 0x1021), highlighted in green or red.
  • PTYPE and counter checks: Recognizes the polling-method PTYPE byte and checks that the CT field of each frame ID increments in sequence, exposing lost or duplicated frames.
  • Full long-frame display: 8 or 16 data columns with automatic wrapping, so long frames of up to 255 bytes remain fully readable.
  • TXT/CSV export: Decoded results can be exported for further analysis and reporting.

Availability

Because CXPI is a single-wire bus, only one channel is needed. Users can decode and trigger with the TB3016B logic analyzer, or use the MSO3124B mixed signal oscilloscope to view analog waveforms alongside the decoded data.

CXPI decoding is included in the latest software release. Existing customers can download the free update from the Software Download page. For setup details, see the Automotive Electronics solution page and the support documentation.
