NCSI (MCTP/RMII)
MCTP (Management Component Transport Protocol) is a transport-independent protocol defined by the DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force). It can operate over multiple physical layers such as PCIe, I²C、 MIPI I3C、 SMBus、 UART , and Ethernet, enabling management and monitoring of servers and embedded systems.
NCSI (Network Controller Sideband Interface) can operate over MCTP or RMII for monitoring and managing network controllers, supporting network status detection and event notification.
Acute Technology logic analyzers support decoding and display of MCTP and NCSI packets, helping engineers clearly observe and analyze platform management protocol communications over the bus, and quickly locate and resolve issues during the design or verification process.
MCTP over I3C / I2C / SMBus Decoding Setup Steps
1. Click Quick Settings or Add Protocol Decode to select a protocol for logic analyzer capture.
2. Select MCTP over I3C / MCTP over I2C / MCTP over SMBus for decoding.
3. If you use Quick Settings, the system will recommend configurations for trigger type, sampling rate, voltage threshold, and channel settings.
4. Click the icon to access the Decode Settings screen.
Decode Settings
Channel: Specify the Logic Analyzer channel number connected to each signal end on the device under test.
Destination Address Configuration: Set the device address and its corresponding protocol.
Advanced Decode Setting: Display the detailed interpretation of the raw data.
